Hermeneutics of psychiatry. Samokhvalov V.P.

The significance of the philosophical system of hermeneutics for diagnosis and therapeutic tactics in psychiatry, the search for the meaning of pathological experiences and abnormal behavior is discussed. On the basis of individual stories of the disease, it is shown how to understand and analyze the mental state and individual mental functions in different ways, in particular perception, thinking, memory, consciousness, intelligence, emotional and instinctive disorders, depending on the philosophical, religious and scientific orientation of the psychiatrist and psychologist. The question of alternative diagnostics in psychiatry is raised. Examples of hermeneutic analysis of complex and conflicting clinical cases, as well as the patient’s experiences, are given. A revision of the traditional system of psychopathology is proposed in connection with the evolution of the psyche and the development of information technology.
