A textbook, addressed primarily to graduate students and applicants for higher educational institutions of physical education, aims to expand and deepen their knowledge on the history and philosophy of science, as well as help in preparation for the exam on the candidate minimum “History and Philosophy of Science”. The important and discussion problems of the history and philosophy of science are analyzed: the concept and history of science: the subject of philosophy, its relationship with science: subject, basic concepts and significance of the philosophy of science: logical methodological and sociocultural problems of the philosophy of science. At the same time, the general theoretical provisions of the history and philosophy of science are used to analyze specific problems of the history and philosophy of sports science. The authors of the textbook are based primarily on the results of their own studies of the problems under discussion. But in order to avoid one -sidedness in their decision, to give readers the opportunity to choose one or another point of view themselves, the views and arguments of other authors on the problems under discussion are outlined. The textbook is also recommended for students, undergraduates, teachers, scientists, everyone who is engaged in or is simply interested in the problems of the history and philosophy of science, including sports science.
