The Holy Mountain of Athos and its inhabitants can be likened to the candle, which the Lord speaks in the Gospel: you are the light of the world. The city standing at the top of the mountain cannot hide (Matt. 5, 14). Each time Athos experienced a spiritual flowering, his light spread around the world. Many traditions of worship and charter, books and spiritual education came to the Slavic lands and Russia, like the rays of this light. The fertile power of Athos contributed to a spiritual rise and with a life -giving streams returned to the Holy Mountain. It is symbolic that in our days the revival of Athos monasticism has coincided with the difficult but fertile time of the revival of the Russian Church and monasticism, for which, God will give, the revival of Russia - the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
