Horage: Safety zone. War in East Bosnia 1992-1995. Sakko D.
"Horage: Zone of Security. The war in East Bosnia 1992-1995 ”
In 1995, Joe Sakko went to the Balkans to collect evidence of eyewitnesses to the Bosnian war. He was one of the first journalists in the Muslim Enclave of the Horage, besieged by the Bosnian Serbs, and conducted dozens of interviews with residents locked with access to the outside world, electricity and water supply. Their tragic stories are the best evidence of what is happening when politics is set above human lives.
“Horage: Safety zone” is Magnum Opus Sakko, which allowed him to become one of the most famous journalists of America. In 2001, the book became the laureate of the Will Icener Award and was nominated for the Harvey Award. In addition, Time magazine called Horage the best comic book 2000, and the New York Times included it in the 2001 main books list.
