The name of the English writer Wilk Collins (1824–1889) is rightly inextricably linked with his famous novel “Moonstone”, where he actually acted as one of the founders of the Detective genre, inventing the plot moves, which will further become traditional for detective novels. In the shadow of this loud accomplishment, there was another hypostasis of Collins-a friend of Charles Dickens and a wonderful novelist-prisoner.

“Husband and wife”, the ninth Roman Collins, was published in 1870.
