But literature is not only novels, and in small genres you can find many real diamonds. No wonder the famous American William Faulkner said that when the writer does not come out of the story, he writes Roman.

The book “Idea” opens, a work that gave the name to the entire meeting. This is the name of the main character, the author of the author. As a child, she received the completely normal name of Agrafen, but then the revolutionary father decided to give her a name in the spirit of time. On playing this name, a lot is built in the story. The story is a short, compressed and dynamic essay on the life of an outstanding woman who went through the war and survived to perestroika years. She went through the execution, but miraculously remained alive, with comic surprise she looks at the country, which became a victim of the period of the initial accumulation of capital. All this is told very vividly and even funny.

The second is the Great Stalin House story in the collection, whose main character, the captain of the first rank, decided to surprise the world with his extraordinary composition - in it he summarizes the results of the entire Soviet period - and invested money for the sold apartment in the Stalinsky House. He expects huge profits and convinces his annoyed children that soon the money from sales of his book will have nowhere to add. And the funny thing is that for an instant, luck smiles at him, his work is interested in the leader of the one youth musical group Hook and offers the captain of the first rank to speak together in order to spread the work in this way. But the moment of good luck was short. The hook dies from the poisoning of the "piano" alcohol, and its group breaks up.

But not only the fate of relatives and veterans cares Mikhail Popov. I strongly advise you to pay attention to the story "Rometta and Julieo." This little thing is a kind of revised world -famous Shakespearean play “Romeo and Juliet”. The action, like the classic, takes place in Verona, but abandoned in a not too distant future, where the laws of the LGBT community prevailed. And in this Verona, marriages between a man and a woman are prohibited, and the same -sex marriages are “in law”. This convention gives M. Popov the opportunity to tighten a very funny plot with a mass of interesting situations and provisions.

No less original is the story “The Last Basil”. There we will meet with the characters well -known to our reader - Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes. It is in this order, because in this essay the doctor is more important than the detective. I will not reveal the author’s plot idea, yet this is a detective, but I guarantee that the reader will never occur to the reader, what is the salt there, and he will be pleasantly surprised to read the story to the end. No one has ever interpreted the relationship of Watson and Holmes in such an unexpected way.

The tragicomic story “Left, or forty -first” is remarkable, this is an unusual story about the friendship of two one -legged people. One of the heroes makes the other one -legged in search of the most sincere friendship. In general, black humor.

The text called “Favorite” is drawing attention to, in the subtitle there is “fabrication” there, and it is really great in thought. We are made in a new way to understand the biblical story about David and Goliaf. Goliath and David in this essay are not at all like themselves, at least to those David and Goliath to which we are used to. Mikhail Popov in his own way tells their story.

And the story “Test” is quite unusual. There, the unfortunate mother sets out his son a banal version of his orphanage: they say, his father was a test pilot and died. These words gain magical power, and the boy’s father in reality faces the need to pass the test after the helm of the aircraft.
