Illustrated history of medicine
The work of two German professors Theodore Meyer -Steinga and Karl Zudgof will lead us through several millennia of the history of medicine, from magic to real science, from ancient times - to the Golden of the 19th century.
Thanks to this book We learn about surgery in ancient Babylon, visit the medical institutions of ancient Greece and the first medieval anatomical theaters of Europe, together with Paracelsus, we will invent the first “medicines” from chemical compounds, observe the incredible experiments of Frederick Ruysh, we will witness the first vaccination made by the English doctor Jenner. against smallpox, and, of course, we will appreciate the grandiose discoveries of the Russian surgeon Nikolai Pirogov.
By the way, this book itself is also with history: it was published at the beginning of the last century, but is still considered one of the most outstanding and reliable sources in this area. One of its advantages is the abundance of drawings illustrating various points in the history of the development of medical art, but for the new edition we prepared an improved illustrative series, where classic black and white drawings were replaced by full-color reproductions of masterpieces of world painting.
