Images of Italy. Muratov P.P.
Pavel Pavlovich Muratov (1881 - 1950), a writer, historian, guardian of the department of elegant arts and classical antiquities of the Rumyantsev Museum, a subtle expert on European culture. The writer worked on the book “Images of Italy” for many years, until 1924, when the final edition was published in Berlin. Since then, all new generations of readers have discovered Italy Muratov: “Not a tragic or sentimental theater, not a book of memories, not a source of exotic sensations, but the home of our soul.” The visual series in this edition is made up of the works of the St. Petersburg artist Nadia Kuznetsova, who works at the junction of two techniques of photography and graphics. The works were remarkably transmitted to it that special light, “Italian dust”, which to this day has been filled with the air of the country, which was a spiritual homeland for Pavel Muratov.
