This adventure story belongs to the pen of the French writer Adolf Baden (1831–1898), whose works for children in the 19th century were so popular that they were translated into several European languages. The book uses illustrations of the French artist Leon Benetta (1839–1916), made by him for one of the first editions of the story. After the death of parents, the twelve -year -old hero of the story goes with two little brothers in distant and mysterious Algeria in search of his uncle - a brave hunter for lions.
