In communist Russia. Letters from Moscow. Pack A.
Among the mass of descriptions of Soviet Russia, the first years of its existence, the view from the side is extremely rare. One of the foreign correspondents admitted to Moscow in 1918 was A. Pak, who later published his quickly forgotten articles from the Bolshevik capital with a separate book. From other journalism of those years, both domestic and foreign, they are distinguished not only by explicit literary talent, but also by journalist’s skill, unique information and emphasized impartiality, without a shadow of indifference or bias. In Germany, the book of Pak, observing the formation of the Bolshevik regime at its most dramatic stage, had no alternatives, but in a few years it disappeared into the flow of other publications. In the USSR, for political reasons for the work, the pack was never translated. The book “In Communist Russia” is not memoirs, not a pamphlet, not fiction. This is an attempt to give a motley panorama of unprecedented events and still not meaningful processes in anticipation of formidable ups and downs of the 20th century.
