In refusal. Spearry. Markish D.
The Russian -speaking Israeli prose writer David Markish is the author of two dozen books in which Russian and Jewish history and culture are inextricably intertwined. The new story “In Refusal”-in fact, the author’s story about the truth of the life of those who in the 1960-1970s had to live in the most free country in the world, “where a person breathes so freely.” Before the reader's eyes, the bright, sometimes satirical images of the divided society are held: “Rich-piddle, west-east, left-right, Semites-Anti-Semites, fools-humid, and more, and more, and more...”.
This wonderful and fierce world, in which there was an eternal war between those who “carried the spark of Moiseev Fire in themselves” from the USSR to the will, and those who were given the right to prohibit the right. Also, the first autobiographical novel by David Markish “The say” about the Kazakhstani exile from the Simon Ashkenazi trilogy, first published in 1978 and awarded the British Book League Prize.
