In the country of memories. Taffy N.A.
Nadezhda Alexandrovna Taffy (Lokhvitskaya, Marriage - Buchinskaya; 1872–1952) - a brilliant Russian writer, who left, along with A. Averchenko, I. Bunin and other bright representatives of Russian emigration, a significant mark in the history of Russian culture. Her works, funny and sad, are always witty, filled with love and compassion for people, a strict understanding of human weaknesses. The reward for this was the popular love for Tuffy and the title of “queen of laughter” awarded to her.
The literary heritage of the writer is very great, but for a long time the work of her last pre -emigrant years was unfairly deprived of attention. The real collection was compiled by Taffy feuilletons of 1917-1919, partly included in her book “Yesterday” (1918), partly scattered on the pages of periodicals of revolutionary time. Gathered together, they show how the fatal minutes of history, clothed in the element of pure humor, combine the topical and eternal.
