In the human heart. Platonov A.P.
Unlike many writers of the past, the identity of the talent of Andrei Platonov does not need evidence. Being read taking into account the literary and historical context, or bypassing all the indirects, his texts invariably speak with the reader directly: they amaze, disturb, scare. The phenomenon of such an inevitable meeting is the secret of Platonic prose and, above all, its language. The seemingly awkward, unnecessary, almost intentionally awkwardly, said suddenly acquires the marginal accuracy of the whole phrase, paragraph or the whole story, becoming part of the Platonic space, created by its own word. Behind the newly open, as if for the first time the speech he heard lies a special poetic vision of the author. Platonov did not want and as if he could not see the usual and ordinary in the world; Life, according to one of his heroines, “should be magical, like a true foreboding of it that exists in a child’s or youthful heart.”
“The artist of amazing tenderness for all the human” (A. Gladkov), he never stood in front of the dilemma, describe the dark or bright sides of existence, but talked about all his life, not bypassing anything, noticing everything - and illuminating everything A wonderful gift to find poetry everywhere, to discover the immense generosity of the soul in every person. “At the human heart” - so Platonov wanted to entitled one of his books, which remained unfulfilled.
This collection under this title included the chosen stories of the writer, written from 1929 to 1946. Created at different times and telling about different events and people, they belong to one world - the one that the author himself called "beautiful and fierce", which is basically the imperishable and beautiful "substance of life."
