The book of the authoritative Spanish biblicalist Jose Luis Sikre was created as a viobia guide to the difficult world of prophets. The first part of it is an overview of different sides of the figure of the prophet. The second traces the history of the prophetic movement in Israel, paying great attention not only to the prophets known by the name, but also to those authors who transferred, supplemented and edited the prophecies of their predecessors. The third part discusses the most important topics of the prophetic message: idolatry, justice, cult, history, messianism. The book is designed to become modern and serious, but at the same time a clear and understandable manual in biblical prophetic literature.
