The monograph is devoted to various aspects of the work and biography of the playwright and philosopher Alexander Vasilievich Sukhovo-Kobylin, whose heritage occupies a special place in Russian culture of the XIX-XXI centuries. The first section of the book includes historical and philological studies, a literary analysis of the dramatic trilogy "Pictures of the past." The second section is dedicated to the theater and stage history of Sukhovo-Kobylin plays in Russia and beyond. The third section is associated with the complex and dramatic history of the Sukhovo-Kobylin archive and documents of several generations of his family. Valuable sources and materials that are not known before are published. The monograph includes the bibliography of the new publications of Sukhovo-Kobylin and recent works devoted to the development of his heritage and biography. The repertoire table given in the final part of the book gives an idea of ​​the production of Sukhovo-Kobylin plays in different cities of Russia in the XXI century. The publication is addressed not only to specialists - philologists, theaters and archivists, but also a wide range of readers.
