Jean-Board Maiden. Obolensky S. S. Prince
Prince Sergey Sergeyevich Obolensky, the last editor -in -chief of the Renaissance magazine, left a noticeable mark in the Russian emigrant periodicals. In the magazine, he led the section “Things and People”; In addition, having undoubted literary talent, since 1955, under his name, he published more than 45 articles and 4 reviews. Our publication introduces readers to the full version of the book “Jeanne - God's Devil”, which is undoubtedly the main result of his research and journalistic activity. For many years, S. S. Obolensky spent on the study of the spiritual phenomenon of Jeanne d’Arc, a simple French peasant woman, who became the savior of his homeland, burned at the stake and later the clique of the saints of the Roman Catholic Church. In the image of the “Orleans Virgin”, Prince Obolensky was attracted by her spirituality, the desire for truth and self -sacrifice. He paid much attention to the analysis of theological reasons for its misunderstanding and rejection in the West and the place that it occupies in the history of Western Christianity and France. This spiritual and philosophical and historical work on Jeanne d'Arc has no analogues in the entire treasury of Russian humanitarian thought.
The first edition of the book in Russian was carried out in 1988, but the manuscript was censored by Catholic Churches.
The book uses photographs from the personal archive of Princess Vera Sergeyevna Obolenskaya. Their reproduction is prohibited without its written resolution.
