Jerome Bosch. Kiselev A.
The Bosch world - strange, mysterious, frightening, fantastic - has long become the object of close attention of art historians and lovers of painting. However, the word "long" can be challenged. The world fame for the artist who lived in the second half of the XV - beginning of the 16th century came a little more than 100 years ago. The surrealists were the first to appreciate and announced Bosch with their forerunners. And the main theme of Bosch is the absurdity and catastrophic of the world, and the shocking courage of artistic means turned out to be extremely relevant. A bizarre mixture of medieval apocalyptic attitude and monstrous - both in the literal and figurative sense of the word - the fantasy of the Bosch became a nutrient medium for the emergence of the most daring and even sensational interpretations of his work. In this publication, almost all the work of Bosch that came to us is presented, including allegedly belonging to us. The accompanying text contains the commentary on the artist’s paintings, biographical information, as well as the interpretation of the work of Bosch as the message of the religious artist of the late Middle Ages to the modern viewer. The album is of interest to those who first get acquainted with the art of Jerome Bosch.
