Judges about science and art. Da Vinci L.
Among the Titans of the Renaissance, the great Italian Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) was undoubtedly the most versatile, differing from other Renaissance geniuses by a truly space scale of interests, knowledge, searches and discoveries. He remained in the history of culture primarily as a brilliant artist and sculptor, but he was not bypassed and the glory of the outstanding
scientist who enriched almost all the areas of knowledge of his era and much ahead of the time with penetrating guesses. The brightest representative of the new, experimental science, Leonardo left in mathematics, anatomy, mechanics, hydraulic engineering, military art and even aircraft industry no less noticeable trace than in the theory and history of art. Being in a continuous dialogue with the universe, he considered it as a giant laboratory, and in science, as well as in art, he saw a means of cognition and transformation of a person of the world around him. Leonardo expressed his original judgments on these topics in numerous manuscript notes, numbering about seven thousand pages; Part of this grandiose heritage is included in this book.
