Just David. Porter E.
“Just David” is first published in Russian. Its author is a popular American writer Elinor Porter, known in Russia thanks to her stories about Pollyanna. David (the parallel with the king-shepherd David, playing on the harp, lies at the very basis of the book)-a 10-year-old boy. He lives in an idyllic mountainous area with his father, who teaches him a virtuoso game on the violin. After the sudden death of his father, an orphan can recall either his own surname or any other relatives. He is "just David." He is adopted by an elderly married couple.
The moral uncomplicated and the musical talent of David attract the inhabitants of the village to him. He has a striking ability in any circumstances to enjoy life, see in everything and in all the best directions. Almost detective turns of the plot, the psychological accuracy with which the author creates images - all this invariably attracts the attention of readers to the book for several generations.
