both of these works amaze with their vital strength, frank eroticism and fearlessness in the descriptions of the most subtle, most intimate human relations. literary allusions, a brave experimenter, never afraid, and often sought to shock the venerable reader, converted banal stories into a parable about a person’s indestructible desire for a fullness of life and the impossibility of reconciling with old age and death.
