According to official Soviet statistics, in the 1950-1960s, 1205.2 million square meters of housing were built in the USSR: during this period, a new territorial-social organism has formed in the country. The book by N. Lebino is dedicated to the houses built during these years - the famous "Khrushchevs", which existed to this day. Considering this housing as a special cultural space of the era of the thaw, the author studies the appearance of these buildings, the forms of their internal structure, the objective saturation of the new living space and shows how the life of the Soviet person has changed in the context of global tendencies of modernization of everyday life. In this context, Khrushchevka appears as a unique thaw phenomenon in which absurd with creative, funny with optimistic and “Soviet” with “non -confessive” ones.
