“Dostoevsky of the twentieth century” is called critics of the Russian writer and poet Varlam Shalamov, who spent twenty years in camps, a man with a tragic fate, including literary. “Accuracy and brevity are the first advantages of prose,” the writer believed. Shalamov’s prose did not at all fit into the canons of even “thawing” literature - neither in content, nor form, nor by copyright philosophy. His stories were born of all the tragic experience of the twentieth century.
