Ladder, John Climacus
“ladder” - the treasure of Orthodox ascetic literature. It was created in the VI century by the Monk John Close, the abbot of the Sinai Monastery. It consists of 30 chapters - the steps along which a Christian should go back to God. In every chapter St. John tells of the laws of spiritual life, the causes and consequences of sins and passions, about how to fight them and how to gain virtues. To this day, “ladder” is recognized as the most important guidance for spiritual life not only for monks, but also for all laity.
For this publication, work was first done to draw up a special addition to the classical text. In each chapter you will find brief explanations and theses designed to facilitate reading, study and memorization. They will help beginners in faith, will become an incentive for further thought and give the reader of the fortress on the spiritual path.
