Far future. Humanity died during a mysterious catastrophe, leaving behind only its heirs and servants, an extensive network of artificial intellects, noems. Having lost the main goal of their existence, they try to find a new one, building their own society. Immortal, they live according to the laws invented not by them, but the time, infinity and complexity can give rise to madness even in a system that is guided exclusively by logic and rationality, and therefore the civilization of Nooems begins to split, giving rise to outcasts and heretics. Plavin is one of these heretics, for many centuries she wanders between stars, and having not found a place in the world without people. When it detects a strange, alien signal, Plavin goes on a journey outside the studied cosmos, hoping to find the causes of the disappearance of mankind. And her ally, Oton, tries to rebuild the NEEMS society itself, since he is threatened by a different mind, whose hostility Noemam has nothing to contrast, because by the will of their creators they cannot harm any biological organism.
