Lectures on art. The theory of graphics and compositions. Fly A.
Alphonse Mukha-the famous painter, theater-decorator, jeweler, unsurpassed graphic artist, whose work can be called the standard of Art Nouveau (Ar-Novo). For more than a century, no one leaves indifferent and ideal female images, smooth fluid lines, beautiful plant motifs and arched framing in the works of a great master.
Alphonse Mukha sought to emphasize the originality of his artistic intentions, tried to demonstrate achievements and wanted to create a unique Dictionary of the artistic language for colleagues and students. Among the educational plans of the artist is the book “Lectures on Art”. In this publication, the author not only explains the techniques of building a composition and the choice of one or another form for graphic work, but also reflects on the main problems that the graphic artist may encounter. Gradually moving along the key elements of the Art Nouveau (Ar-Novo) style, Alfons Mukha analyzes such important topics as balance in composition, the harmony of the human body, the use of color and the stylization of work. To illustrate theoretical remarks, the author supplemented the lectures with a series of sketches and drawings, some of which include excellent miniature drawings, and also picked up ready-made own works confirming the close connection between the aesthetic principles of the Creator and his finished works.
This publication not only reveals the talent of Alfons Mukha as a lecturer, but, of course, can be used to study in multidirectional areas of fine art.
