Lectures on the history of the ancient church. 2nd edition, fixed. Brilliantov A.I.
Alexander Ivanovich Brilliants (1867–1933 (1934?)) - an outstanding Russian church historian and theologian, professor of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy since 1900, a successor to the Department of History of the Ancient Church of the Great V.V. Bolotov, his spiritual heir and the successor of the remarkable traditions of the Russian church-historical scientific school, which was so tragically breaking in 1917, “Lectures on the History of the Ancient Church”-this is the first published lecture course A. I. Brilliantov, who was read by him for students of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy for many years. The main attention in the lectures is focused on the history of triadological and Christological disputes in the early Church during the first six universal cathedrals, the formation of Christian dogma and the refutation of numerous heresies of that time. Despite the complexity of issues discussed in this book, “lectures...” are read easily and with an unrelenting interest, which largely depends on the style of A. I. Brilliantov - strictly consistent, logically verified, transparent in evidence and not deprived of high literary merits. For all those interested in the history of the ancient Church and the formation of Christian dogma.
