Gabriel Seil (1852–1922) –– French historian of philosophy and painting, professor of Sorbonne, author of several works on aesthetics, sociology and moral philosophy, which have been authority at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Based on all the information about Leonardo da Vinci, which is available and systematized by him, the author discusses the contribution of this universal person to science, bringing many quotes from the manuscripts of the master. He puts the latter in the context of his modern noosphere and accompanies with detailed comments.
The main part is preceded by the biography of Leonardo, based on the biography of Georgio Vazari and other, less well -known sources that are not available in Russian. Awarding that has not yet lost relevance is given in modern spelling. All links to third -party publications are saved.
