“That's how I wanted to leave,” the last words of the great pre-impressionist of the 20th century.
The desire to create by Vincent Van Gogh did not immediately arise. At the age of 27, after a long wanderings and searches for his own “I”, the young man realized that he wanted to draw. For ten years of work, he created more than two thousand paintings, and documented his creative path in his letters to Brother Theo.
Their correspondence has become the property of the epistolary genre and is known no less than the artist’s paintings themselves. The brothers not only discussed business, but also argued, shared their views on creativity and important events from life. In these lines, the confession of Van Gogh about the essence of creativity, the meaning of human existence, love for people full of sincerity.
This publication contains letters and original sketches of the artist addressed to the brother, who still continue to inspire people.
