Letters to Brother Theo. Van Gogh V.

In ten years, Van Gogh created more than 2100 works, including about 860 oil paintings. Among them are portraits, self -portraits, landscapes and still lifes, with the image of olive trees, cypresses, wheat fields and sunflower. Most critics did not notice Van Gogh before his suicide at the age of 37, who preceded years of anxiety, poverty and disorders of reason. A special person in the life of Van Gogh was his brother Theodorus. Throughout his life, he provided to Vincent moral and financial support. After the death of the artist, more than 900 letters were found and basically all of them are addressed to the brother. Van Gogh turned out to be a talented master of not only a brush, but also a pen. These letters, gathered together, are an incomparable human document: they open the door to the world of this brilliant madman, revealing not only the path of its formation, but also showing how a new language of painting was created, which had a timeless effect on the art of the 20th century.
