Letters to the artists. Vasiliev, Repin, Polenov. Kramskoy I.N.

Ivan Nikolaevich Kramskoy (1837–1887) - Russian artist, master of genre, historical and portrait painting. In 1863, he headed the “rebellion of fourteen” - a scandalous demonstration of the best graduates of the Imperial Academy of Arts in protest against academic routine. One of the main organizers and ideologists of the “Partnership of Mobile Art Exhibitions”.

The present edition included letters from I. N. Kramsky to his younger contemporaries - artists F. A. Vasiliev (1850–1873), I. E. Repin (1844–1930) and V. D. Polenov (1844–1927). Letters allow us to evaluate the scale of the personality of the artist, to comprehend the nature of a person with wide, versatile interests not only in creativity, but also for social activity.
