English philosopher Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679), one of the founders of the theory of a social contract, believed that people for the sake of gaining security should give in a part of their natural rights to the powerful Leviathan of the state. The Leviathan treatise, written in the conditions of the English revolution, with an obvious conflict between the legislative and executive branch (the king against parliament), became one of the most important studies about the theory of power and had a tremendous influence on the development of culture, philosophy and political structure of modern society. << /p>

The book also includes the works of Hobbes “Human Nature” (1650) and “On Freedom and necessity” (1654).
