Living and dead word

The word living and dead occupies a separate place in the creative heritage of Nora Gal. This book, only during the life of the author, was reprinted three times (and each next edition of Nora Gal was largely processed and supplemented), and later six times, is the best of the works that were ever written in our country dedicated to the theory of literary translation. Nora Gal not only analyzes the most common mistakes of translators and demonstrates successful examples of translations, but also, generalizing his own literary experience, offers the concept of the “ideal language” of translation - living and natural.
