Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926)-the largest Austrian and European poet of the twentieth century, wrote in German. The topic of overcoming loneliness, religious problems, philosophical symbolism are organically combined in his works. The poet visited Russia twice, wrote about it as a country of "close, dear and a saint, forever included in the foundations of its existence." Boris Pasternak and Marina Tsvetaeva were friends and corresponded with him.
In this book, the poems of Rilke is represented by Vladimir Letuchey - a wonderful translator who studied his work all his life. For the translation of the book “New Poems”, he was awarded the Austrian Republic Award for translators. The publication contains notes and comments of the translator and compiler, and is addressed to a wide range of readers.
