Lord Jim. Conrad J.
Joseph Conrad (real name - Jozef Theodor Konrad Kozhenyovsky, 1857–1924) is an English writer who became famous as a brilliant stylist and one of the best novelists of the late XIX - early XX centuries. A native of the Polish family, at the age of eleven, he remained an orphan and was accepted in the care of his uncle, who then lived in Odessa. Here, the young Joseph first saw the sea that determined his fate.
Having matured, he became a sailor, and then the captain of the long -term swimming, he dedicated many of his works to the sea and sailors.
Roman "Lord Jim "(1900), according to many researchers and critics, one of the best creations of Konrad. The dynamic story in detail recreates the dramatic fate of the sailor Jim, the history of his fall and the subsequent struggle for atonement. A truly adventure plot and a colorful exotic landscape is a work with the best samples of romantic prose, but the author’s focus is not external surroundings, but a deep psychological analysis of the hero’s behavior. A complex “polyphonic” structure of the story creates a variety of points of view, encouraging the reader himself to go through the thickening fog of illusions and reveal the secret of the personality of Lord Jim.
