Lost Illusions - Balzac’s novel, placed by him in the “Human Comedy” in the section “Scenes of Provincial Life”, actually gives a bright and fantastically detailed panorama of the life of the French capital, again convincing the incredible ability of the French classic to penetrate any spheres of modern to him life, in the most hidden corners of the consciousness of characters. The heroes of Roman Lucien and David - the young provincial poet and his friend, a naive inventor - look at reality through pink glasses. However, having fallen into the ticks, they are little by little disappointed in previous ideals, knowing which mechanisms actually control society. Bitter clarity occurs: with good intentions of growing young men, the road to success is paved with at all costs.
