This publication for the first time presents in Russian a full translation of the famous novel by Jean-Batista Louve de Couvre (1760-1797) “Love Adventures of Chevalier de Flaz” (1787-1790), who left a significant mark both in the world and in the Russian classical classic literature.

This is the best work of Louve de Couvre, which has absorbed the spirit of literature of the 18th century and anticipated the emergence of ideals and values ​​that are already characteristic of the XIX century; The author pays tribute to the aristocratic gallant culture in both of its mortgages: sublime and Libertin. The novel is marked with vivid theatricality: the action develops rapidly, as in a classical comedy, and a quick change of paintings is colored by witty chatter or experiences of a hero trying to justify his inconsistency. Thanks to her, the frivolous romance is filled with seriousness and tragedy, and a cheerful game turns into death and madness. However, despite this, the “Fusto” remains primarily an example of French wit and sociability, joy and charms of a carefree life, fireworks of love adventures and glorification of a fleeting gift of youth.

The story of the writer's life, placed in this publication, clearly demonstrates how close the literature has left life, in which all the same strong feelings and fatal circumstances took place.
