Love drink. Novels, a story. Stendhal

Stories and novels of Stodal, the author of the famous novel “Red and Black”, often remain in the shadow of his “Big Prose”. Meanwhile, he has written a lot of brilliant short stories full of movements, with an unexpected, energetic ending. In these small works with particular force, Stendhal’s love for strong and temperamental naturals affected, for which passion is almost irresistible and instantly becomes into action, being a plot spring, such as in many novels of the “Italian chronicle” included in the real publication.

The chronicle was based on the old manuscripts of the XVI - XVIII centuries. In most cases, these are the stories of robbers, conspirators and rebels, with love, jealousy and revenge. Some of the chronicle (Vittoria Akkorabony, Duchess di Palliano) are a rather accurate arrangement of ancient manuscripts, others (“Suora Scolastica”, “excessive favor of destructive”) - their free processing. At the same time, the works of Stendhal always retain originality, a special manner of narrative, representing events in a new, dramatic, capturing lighting.
