Luck at the Titanic. Lee Steisi
The new book by Steisi Lee, the author of the bestseller New York Times. This is the story of Valor and Jamie Lac-the Akrobat Gemini, who find themselves on board the Titanic on his first ill-fated journey.
Valor Lacques has a ticket for the largest and most luxurious ocean liner in the world. And the dream of leaving England to start a new life as a circus artist in New York. That's just luck turned away from her right by the ramp: the Chinese are not allowed to enter America.
Only seven days, while the ship crosses the Atlantic, they will decide its fate, so that Valor should get on board at all costs. To charm the influential owner of the circus, showing a “deadly number” on listening. To convince the twin brother to go with her in search of the best fate that their father dreamed of. Risking, leading a double life of a rich lady from the first class and a poor maid.
Fortunately, there is nothing impossible for young acrobatics, and the shaft is on the ship. But fortunately? After all, it seems that the Titanic made a bet with the sea itself, and the most important thing for each of his passenger is to survive.
“Luck at the Titanic” is recognized as the best artistic book for youth according to the version of the American Library Association.
from the author
The best in writing a book about such a tragedy as the crash of Titanic is that at your disposal a truly inexhaustible source of information. After the disaster, numerous investigations began. Engineers and scientists tried to figure out what went wrong to prevent such tragedies in the future. Countries have developed a set of rules. And even newspapers for years have continued to illuminate this event. Not to mention the fact that people with an inquisitive mind often began their own research to understand what happened. Someone continues to do this to this day.
The most difficult thing in writing a book based on historical events is to keep invented events in the real framework and in the process not to damage reliability. Where, according to my sensations, it was important, I gave my characters the names of real passengers, mainly in order to encourage readers to learn more about them. Of course, some inhabitants of the ship simply had to preserve their names: Captain Smith, J. Bruce Isme, Duff-Gordona. The Titanic would not be a "titanium" without them.
In addition, Albert Enknie Stuart was a real person related to business interests with the Ringling brothers circus, a man named Crawford was his valet, and Berta Chambers was a first -class passenger, who remained on the deck of E. Attempts to find out and tell more about these Less famous figures are a way to honor their memory.
But most often I came up with completely new characters to be able to freely weave the thread of the narrative. And let you give you pleasure to get acquainted with each of them (with the exception of the skeleton), but, after all, it is more important, let the “luck on the Titanic” serve as a reason for discussion which of the heroes can call the society worthy, and whom-whom-whom-whom-whom- No.
