Lyrics. Block A.

Alexander Alexandrovich Blok (1880-1921) himself prepared collections of his poems for the publication. The poet divided his lyrics into three books, each of which included certain cycles. Therefore, in our collection, poems from these three books are initially presented, while preserving the structure proposed by the author himself in his last lifetime publications. We also indicate the day, month and place of creation of the work, as the poet did. In addition, we retain the author’s spelling and punctuation, about which A. Blok wrote to the editor of one of the publications: “All my grammatical oversight in the verses is not accidental, behind it is hidden that I cannot sacrifice internally; In other words, it is so “sung” to me. ”

The fourth section of the collection we compiled from those poems that were not included in the first three books and were printed separately. And, as you can verify yourself, some of them are well known to the reader from early childhood.

The fifth section includes excerpts from the unfinished poem “Retribution”, the poem “Twelve” and the poem “Scythians”. Alexander Blok wrote this poem within two days immediately after he finished the poem “Twelve”. Therefore, usually these two works in the poet’s collections are published together.
