Nikolai Aleksandrovich Asanov was born on December 15, 1906 in a small village of Bigichi in the Northern Urals. He was the eldest of the three children and, when in 1915 his father died at the front, he took care of the family. Having become Ratcore of the Perm newspaper Zvezda, he gets acquainted with Arkady Gaidar, under whose influence the main features of N. Asanov were formed: a dynamic plot, thorough knowledge of the situation, courageous images of heroes opposing the hostile forces of nature.

The novel “Magic Stone” is based on the labor feat of geologists who are looking for the most important strategic raw material - diamonds in the Forest Glukhomani.
