Magical flute
For more than two centuries, the Opera Magic Flute has remained one of the most popular works of the outstanding Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The libretto, that is, the literary text of the “Magic Flute”, wrote the German singer and playwright Johann Emanuel Shichedir. In search of the plot, he turned to a collection of fantastic poems “Ginnistan, or selected fairy tales about fairies and spirits”, published by German writer Christoph Martin Viland. In the third volume of this collection, the magical fairy tale “Lulu, or the Magic Flute” (1789) was printed, which became the basis for the future opera masterpiece. Very often the author of this fairy tale is called the publisher of the collection of Viland, but in fact it belongs to the pen of his son-in-law, pastor Augusta Jacob Libeskind (1758-1793). -illustrator Boris Aleksandrovich Dekhterev (1908-1993) and his sister -the famous translator Nina Aleksandrovna Dekhtereva (1906-1994) -created this amazing book.
