Mahawarochana-Sutra. 2nd edition, stereotypical
“Mahawarochana-Sutra” is one of the two theoretical texts of the esoteric (tantric) Buddhism. Its Sanskrit original was supposedly compiled in India in the second half of the 7th century, and to Chinese it transferred Schubhakara Simha in 724. Similarly, Shubhakarasimha, he interpreted the text verbally; These “lectures” recorded by his student I-Sin, a mathematician and astronomer formed the basis of the main Chinese commentary on the sutra. Buddhaguhya, whose comment was also used in translation, was probably born around 700 and lived mainly in the field of Varanasi.
The central theme of the sutra: what is “perfect enlightenment” and how to achieve it? Such enlightenment is personified in the figure of the Ecumenical Buddha of Mahavyrochana; Accordingly, the purpose of all practitioners is proclaimed the formation of Mahavyrochana.
the Sutra was translated from the Chinese language, the translation of the commentary of Buddhaguhai Dan selectively, translated by the commentary of Shubhakarasimhi-I-Sina, the explanations of Sanskrit words and detailed descriptions of the rituals.
