The philosophical and economic ideas of Karl Marx (1818–1883) and Friedrich Engels (1820–1895) played a huge role in the life of the whole world and our country in particular. “The Manifesto of the Communist Party” (1848) was written by scientists on behalf of the Society of the Union of Fair and laid the foundation for the formation of the influential international movement of the Communists. The collection also includes other works of the second half of the 1840s. The “poverty of philosophy” by Karl Marx is an ironic response to the extremely popular book by Pierre Joseph Proudhon “The System of Economic Contradictions, or the Philosophy of Poverty” (1846).

Marx analyzes all the flaws of this work: Proudhon is not the most powerful economist, moreover, he is clearly not in the wretches with mathematics. Marx widely quotes the author’s disassembled, so that it is easy and interesting to monitor the correspondence polemic. A very curious example of an ideological approach to literary criticism is the article by Engels “German socialism in verses and prose”, and in his work “Principles of Communism”, perhaps, the basic theses of the new party were first formulated.

The book will be interesting to all readers interested in the development of economic and political ideas in the world.
