Army General Vasily Filippovich Margelov (1908–1990) - perhaps the most famous Soviet poster military leader. He commanded the most heroic troops-airborne. Armed them with the most modern weapons, conducted a number of brilliant operations with his “eagles”, after which the glory of the most mobile and daring troops was firmly entrenched in the Airborne Forces, capable of fulfilling tasks that only by them.
The words of Margelov: “No one but us” - became the motto of the Airborne Forces, where the name of the paratrooper No. 1 is still surrounded by legends. The famous military writer Sergei Michenkov in detail and penetratively talks about the life of General Margelov, where the Polish campaign, the Soviet-Finnish war, the Great Patriotic War, the special missions of the Airborne Forces in Hungary and Czechoslovakia are inscribed.
