The kind and bright story of the talented Soviet writer Dina Brodskaya (1909–1942) - about the fate of Mari, Kukharkina's daughter. She is a smart, observant girl, loves to read and most dreams of studying. Mariya is riding in the courtyard, where the children of the rich and the poor play together. Time passes, and the girls from wealthy families go to the gymnasium, and Mariya still helps mom in the kitchen and spends time on the street. But life around her begins to change rapidly, and the girl will soon receive an answer to her main question: “Who will I grow up?”
“Marikino childhood” is one of the best works by Dina Brodskaya. Her creative path was cut off by the war: Dina Leontyevna died during the blockade of Leningrad on January 3, 1942 at the age of 32 years.
