“Beginning” by I. Newton is one of the greatest works in the history of natural science. This composition laid the foundations of mechanics, physics and astronomy. It formulated a program for the development of these areas of science, which remained defining for more than one and a half centuries.

This publication is a facsimile reproduction of the book of I. Newton in Latin and with comments by Academician A.N. Krylov. The book also includes a subject index compiled by I. Newton and first published in Russian in the second edition.
