The textbook is written by the team of the Department of Microbiology, virology and immunology of the First Moscow Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov (Sechenov University) in accordance with the officially approved programs for teaching microbiology (bacteriology, virology, mycology, protozoology) and immunology at all faculties of medical universities.

The textbook takes into account data on the classification of microbes (Bergey's Manulogy 2nd Edition, 2001), decisions of the 7th International Congress for Tuirus taxonomy on the entry into force of the classification of viruses from January 1, 2002, as well as a list of microbes and diagnostic studies corresponding to the order of M3 of the Russian Federation for No. 64.02.2000 “On approval of approval nomenclatures of clinical laboratory research. " The textbook consists of 20 chapters, in which issues of general and private microbiology, virology and immunology are consistent. The chapters on anti-cubic drugs, the characteristics of immunity in various conditions of the body, clinical microbiology are included. The classification of microbes is given in accordance with the latest international official documentation.
