The book contains a presentation of the main stages of political history, as well as the evolution of socio-economic relations and culture. Unlike other monographs for this period, the history of South India is paid considerable attention. Questions about the role of such unique social institutions in the history of the country as Casta and the rural community are specially considered. The book is based on the study of all the main sources, as well as the existing literature. The author is not in all of the stereotypes adopted in indology and puts forward his own concept of the history of India. Compared to the first edition of the book, the author’s vision of the creature of the caste system and the functioning of the rural community is significantly adjusted.
