The real edition included Ilya Repin's memoirs about contemporaries, first published in the book “Far Slick” in 1937, representing I.E. Repin as a bright memoirist. Among others, Repin dedicated the essays to the painters Valentin Serov and Arkhip Kuindzhi, the sculptor-resident Mark Antokolsky, the classics of Russian literature Leo Tolstoy and Vsevolod Garshin, as well as criticism by Vladimir Stasov. In addition to the memories of contemporaries, the collection includes “ten letters about art” - a cycle of travel notes written by Repin during a long trip to Europe in 1893–1894 and published by the “theater newspaper” and “week” under the title “Notes of the artist (letters from -the border) ".
