“Memoirs” by Arkady Aleksandrovich Rylov (1870-1939), a wonderful Russian landscape painter, is the most valuable document of the era that has a story of the artist about children's years in his native Vyatka, study at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, trips to Crimea and Europe, events of the First World War War, revolution and its consequences. A friendly and sociable, Rylov had many friends and acquaintances, his book is full of bright and witty literary portraits of contemporaries - primarily people of art. The image of A. I. Kuindzhi, the main teacher and older friend Rylov, was especially colorful. Many pages of memoirs are devoted to observations of nature and especially - for animals whom the painter loved and whose habits understood and respected. The narrative is distinguished by a simple and clear style, it is read easily and remembered for a long time. In this publication, the text “Memoirs” is published with some reductions: mostly insignificant details related to the “second -plan” are excluded.
